Where Company Meets Community

Helping people thrive means helping our communities thrive. From nationwide programs to local service initiatives, BDO Counts gives our individuals and offices the opportunity to give back to their communities wherever – and however – they choose.
BDO Counts is a mixture of both national and local initiatives. Rather than dictating strictly what offices and individuals can or cannot do, we provide support for our employees as they give their time and energy to the causes and issues unique to their communities.
BDO also organizes several larger-scale initiatives, which leverage the reach and scope of our national network, while also fostering teamwork and collaboration among and within our offices.
Week of Service: BDO’s annual Week of Service is a firm-wide effort that takes place simultaneously in BDO communities across the country. Last year, 978 BDO professionals volunteered more than 3,000 hours of their time and raised or donated almost $28,000 to worthy causes, impacting close to 10,000 people.
Light the Night: This year, BDO USA is a National Sponsor of the Light the Night walks. From D.C. to the Bay Area, BDO teams across the country are supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in fighting blood cancers and improving the quality of life of patients and their families.

100 Good Deeds: BDO USA celebrated its 100th anniversary by giving back to the communities that have supported the firm throughout its history. The goal was to achieve at least 100 good deeds – activities or events that benefit worthwhile causes – throughout BDO’s centennial year. The program has since continued, with BDO’s offices and individuals performing Good Deeds across the country. To date, we have:

  • Volunteered 2,083 times over the course of almost 400 group hours.
  • Raised/donated more than $62,000 for worthy causes.
  • Supported more than 80 different organizations.
  • Helped more than 2,700 people.
Red Nose Day: This year, BDO USA raised $75,000 during a two-week employee fundraising drive in support of Red Nose Day, the Comic Relief charity dedicated to ending child poverty. BDO USA CEO, Wayne Berson, issued a challenge to the firm’s office managing partners (OMPs) to set fundraising goals for employees in their offices and agree to be “Pie-ed in the Face” should staff reach that target. On May 25, employees took good natured delight in seeing Mr. Berson and many of the firm’s OMPs splattered with pies around the country as the firm far exceeded its goals.
