Social Impact Year in Review: How We Helped Our Communities Thrive in 2025

Coming Together to Serve Our Communities

In 2025, our people devoted thousands of volunteer hours to helping nonprofits in their communities thrive. Whether participating in local events organized by BDO Counts coordinators year-round or volunteering independently for causes they care about, our professionals made a lasting impact throughout the year.

1,300+

237

During Week of Service and Season of Giving, our professionals came together to volunteer and make a meaningful difference in our communities. These firmwide, locally-organized volunteer campaigns are a time for our offices across the country to simultaneously volunteer in support of the firm’s cause areas: Children & Youth, Education & Literacy, Human Rights and the Environment.

It was incredibly rewarding to both connect with colleagues and give back to my community. I am grateful for BDO’s commitment to community service and look forward to participating in future volunteer initiatives.

 SPOTLIGHT

Nonprofit Board Service Training

Another way BDO empowers our people to become champions for change in their communities is through our nonprofit board service training program. Two hybrid training sessions held throughout 2025 taught 1,000+ professionals about board member responsibilities, how to excel in the role, and how to get involved with a nonprofit board that aligns with individual passions.

I'm on a nonprofit board because I want to give back to my community. BDO's workshops have been valuable, helping me determine the best ways to engage and understand the line between my role in board governance and the expectations that should be met by leadership.

Maximizing Our Impact

Matching Gifts & Dollars for Doers

BDO amplifies the generosity of our people through Matching Gifts, where professionals can have their eligible charitable contributions matched dollar-for-dollar, and Dollar for Doers, where professionals can convert their volunteer hours into monetary donations for eligible nonprofits of their choice.

Through these programs, our people and the firm contributed over $600,000 in charitable donations and impacted more than 1,000 organizations in 2025.

In honor of GivingTuesday, BDO amplified our professionals’ impact by increasing matched nonprofit contributions for the day. As a result, over 300 of our professionals'  favorite organizations received support during this year’s global day of giving.

Charitable Contributions

BDO also supports nonprofits creating a positive impact across our four cause areas. In 2025, we were proud to advance our Education & Literacy cause area with a contribution of $50,000 to the AICPA Foundation’s scholarship program, which provides support to accounting students at various stages of their education.

In 2025, BDO took the opportunity to support those in need with the launch of fundraising campaigns in the wake of the Palisades wildfires and the Central Texas floods. Through the generosity of our people, BDO successfully raised over $42,400 for nonprofit organizations providing critical relief services to those affected.

Cause Partnership

In 2025, BDO was proud to collaborate with our first-ever cause partner, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) - strengthening our impact within our Children & Youth cause area. Selected by our professionals through a firmwide vote, BBBSA is the largest mentoring network in the U.S. dedicated to helping youth reach their full potential.

With 74% of young people lacking access to mentorship, BDO’s cause partnership plays a critical role in helping close this gap. By engaging with BDO professionals across the country, youth gain exposure to diverse career paths and make authentic connections that broaden their vision of what’s possible.

Together with BBBSA, BDO organized five “Big for A Day” mentoring events across the nation. In these sessions our professionals connected with local students, guiding them through interactive career exploration activities designed to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders.

CELEBRATING ONE YEAR OF IMPACT WITH BBBSA

""15+ In-Person
Events

""365 Youth and Families

 served through these events

""1000+ BDO Volunteers

engaged across all events

""14 BDO Professionals

became full-time mentors or “Bigs”

Our event with BBBSA was a great example of how we live our core purpose and core values at BDO. I really enjoyed the direct connection with the students during our group mentoring activities, where we provided hands-on attention—and even some career planning advice—to an engaged group of kids, many of whom had never visited an office before.
