Mr. Katz is a Partner in BDO’s Litigation & Disputes practice. He has more than 30 years of experience providing forensic accounting and litigation advisory services to attorneys, businesses, and individuals. Mr. Katz regularly services as a neutral arbitrator, analyzes financial issues, prepares damage analyses, designs court exhibits, and provides testimony.
Mr. Katz’s experience includes serving as an arbitrator in more than 75 arbitrations disputes and advising dozens and dozens of buyers and sellers in these disputes. His post-acquisition dispute work includes the analysis and application of the terms acquisition agreements, evaluation of claims for breaches of representations, and warranties and the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Mr. Katz is also regularly retained as an advisor and expert witness in lost profit matters including, but not limited to, breach of contract, the improper hiring of employees, business torts, and employee disputes. His other work involves forensic accounting analyses, investigation of allegations of fraud, and business valuation.

John Petrancosta is a Director in the Pittsburgh office of BDO USA, LLP. He has more than 20 years of experience providing consulting services in business valuation, fraud and forensics, economic damages, equitable distribution, white collar crime, bankruptcy, valuation of intangible assets and impairment testing. He has managed hundreds of engagements in a variety industry sectors including healthcare, energy, manufacturing, technology, wholesale, retail and professional services, and he has broad experience within the litigation support area, having provided analyses in a multitude of cases and has testified as an expert witness before federal and state courts.

Additionally, Mr. Petrancosta has extensive experience in employee benefit plan auditing and administration, tax planning and preparation, and financial statement auditing.

Mr. Petrancosta is a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania and is Accredited in Business Valuation and Certified in Financial Forensics. He also holds designations as a Certified Valuation Analyst and Certified Fraud Examiner

Aaron is a Senior Manager in the Transaction Advisory Services practice with more than eight years of experience in the public accounting industry. His experience includes providing buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence services to strategic, private equity and other financial sponsors.

Aaron has worked across a variety of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, technology, construction, healthcare, and professional services. His financial due diligence experience includes quality of earnings, working capital and debt and debt-like analyses on complex transactions including carve-outs. Aaron’s due diligence experience also includes purchase agreement commentary and performing industry-specific gross margin and backlog assessments.

Aaron was previously a manager in the transaction advisory services practice with Elliott Davis, LLC and a senior associate in the audit practice with a Big Four Firm.
