Executive Summary

Michael Becker has over 22 years of experience in public accounting, working in a variety of capacities. He has spent the last seven years with BDO’s National Assurance practice, leading audit training programs for all of the firm’s assurance professionals. This role includes designing, developing, implementing and executing the continuous accounting and auditing curriculum for all professionals, from staff through partners, including conferences, local office training, self-study modules and other on-demand learning resources.
Michael is a member of an executive strategy team driving leadership development and professional growth across the firm. He is also a member of BDO International’s Advisory Group on Global Audit Training, a small international working group tasked with developing a comprehensive curriculum for BDO’s global audit training, as well as an underlying competency matrix.
Michael was recently appointed as the at-large member to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Board of Examiners Content Committee, the group responsible for the technical content of the Uniform CPA Examination. He is also an active member of the Educational Management Exchange (EDMAX), a semi-annual forum sponsored by the AICPA for learning professionals in the accounting profession. The forum allows attendees to discuss and exchange ideas, challenges, adult learning trends and innovative processes, tools, and learning platforms, as well as to examine CPE rules and regulations.
Prior to joining the National Assurance practice, Michael spent 15 years in the Chicago Assurance practice as a client service professional, coordinating and managing audit services. He has worked with a variety of clients both nationally and internationally, ranging from publicly held companies to privately held businesses and social service organizations. He also served three years as the Chicago practice’s director of internal development, where he focused on operational matters such as productivity analysis, budget forecasting, staff utilization, and day-to-day managing and mentoring of the department’s staff and managers.
