Firm Among Organizations Recognized for Helping Fathers be Equal Parenting Partners

Chicago, IL — Working Mother today named BDO USA, LLP to the magazine’s first-ever list of Best Companies for Dads.  The rankings celebrate organizations that lead in the areas of paternity leave, phase-back programs, telecommuting opportunities, flexible schedules, and more. Accenture, American Express, Intel, Johnson & Johnson and Visa are just a few of the other businesses recognized with the award.  A complete list of all 35 businesses recognized can be found at “Best Companies for Dads,”.

“We are extremely proud to be one of the initial businesses recognized by Working Mother as a Best Company for Dads,” said Cathy Moy, Chief People Officer at BDO USA.  “More than a decade ago, as part of our regular employee outreach, we learned that more male professionals were reporting work-life conflicts than women.  The firm subsequently introduced a flexibility strategy that has enabled all of our people to make changes to where, when and how they work in order to enhance client service, improve the business and enhance employees’ lives.  As we added paternity leave and other programs, work-life fit arrangements have become a part of our culture.  This recognition as a best company for dads and other workplace awards are an important third-party endorsement of our efforts.”

About the Methodology:
To determine this list, the Working Mother Research Institute examined answers to questions related to dads submitted to the application for Working Mother’s annual 100 Best Companies. Those questions include paternity leave, adoption leave, surrogacy and fertility benefits, phase-back programs, childcare options, telecommuting opportunities, and employee-resource groups for men. The responses were then assigned points, with the 35 organizations listed here receiving the highest number of points.

“Millennial dads want to be very involved in raising their children and to do that, they need support from their employers,” says Meredith Bodgas, Editor-in-Chief of Working Mother. “These trend-setting companies are helping erase the stigma attached to men taking off time to bond with their new babies, utilizing telecommuting opportunities or flexible schedules in order to be more involved on the homefront.”
