FY 2015 Restaurant Benchmarking Update

March 2016

Our quarterly report tracks key metrics of publicly traded restaurant companies by segment. In this issue, we look at operating results through the fourth quarter of 2015. Overall, restaurant sales were solid throughout 2015, largely due to improvements in economic fundamentals like decreased unemployment and increased discretionary income, which boosted consumer confidence and spending. Same-store sales improved across all segments last year, helped by higher menu prices and increased traffic. Those brands with lower same-store sales suffered from lower traffic counts offset by menu price increases.
