Data privacy matters were recently escalated by the EU's new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that took effect in May 2018. Even U.S.-based operating companies need to pay attention and understand how, whether, and where they may have exposure from the types of data maintained within your organizations. For boards of directors, the question is one of oversight and the ability to answer how management is managing potential risk in this area. Join BDO data privacy practitioners as they discuss questions board should be addressing and resources to help organizations take appropriate steps to remain GDPR compliant.
Learning Objectives:
  • Identify the key requirements of the new GDPR rules that may present risks for U.S. companies
  • Discuss the increasing role of the board with respect to data privacy and cybersecurity
  • Recognize resources to aid your organization in strengthening processes and protections to prevent  GDPR noncompliance and enhance data protections
