Executive Summary

Peter Klinger has more than 25 years of experience in the compensation and benefits arena, with a focus on accounting, income tax, and plan design. Peter consults extensively with public and private companies on myriad compensation matters, including:
 
  • General executive compensation plan design and analysis
  • ASC 718 and 740, APB 25 (Accounting for Stock Issued to Employees)
  • Section 280G/Golden Parachutes, including change of control plans, severance benefits, and equity plan COC design
  • Sections 409A/451 (Nonqualified Deferred Compensation Plans)
  • Section 83 (Property Transferred in Connection with Performance of Services).
  • Consulting on compensation and benefit plan design and implementation for executive compensation programs and qualified and nonqualified retirement plans
  • 162(m) plan design and qualification
  • Partnership compensation, including transfers of profits interests and capital interests as compensation
 
Peter also speaks frequently on various tax and accounting issues to such industry groups as the Financial Executives Institute (FEI), the Tax Executives Institute (TEI) and the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP).
 
Prior to joining BDO, Peter was a Senior Manager in Ernst & Young LLP’s tax practice in New York and San Francisco, where he specialized in compensation and benefits.
