Executive Summary

Beth Garner has more than 19 years of accounting experience. She is a member of the BDO National Employee Benefit Plan practice, and is also the signing partner on all employee benefit plan engagements in the Atlanta office. Beth has experience with defined contribution (401(k), 403(b) and ESOP), defined benefit, and health and welfare plans. She also has experience with consulting on plan improvements, handling mergers and acquisitions, plan terminations, and frozen plans, and correction of compliance failures. She was previously Vice President/Controller at a publicly traded bank and has dealt with many types of investments. 
Beth is involved as a report reviewer for complex employee benefit plan audits for both BDO and BDO Alliance firms that submit plans for review. She provides training to the firm’s professionals on benefit plan-specific topics, develops the audit programs used by engagement teams at both BDO and the BDO Alliance network, and was involved in developing the new benefit plan auditing methodology tool used by BDO engagement teams.
She is a frequent speaker on various technical issues at both industry and professional organization venues.  Beth is a regular contributor to BDO’s employee benefit plan newsletter and regularly serves as a facilitator in national training events. She is also the Core Values Champion and Women’s Initiative Leader for the Southeast Region, helping to identify and develop opportunities for enhancing employee work lives and performance.
