DOL to Hold ERISA Fiduciary Responsibilities Web Series in March

Beginning March 22, 2022, the Department of Labor (DOL) is hosting a three-part webcast series covering the basics of fiduciary responsibility: Getting It Right – Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities. This series will cover how the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) applies to employer-sponsored retirement and health plans.

The DOL aims to help you build a greater understanding your plan and your responsibilities; know how to carefully select and monitor service providers; make contributions on time; provide appropriate disclosures to plan participants and file annual reports to the government on time; and avoid prohibited transactions.

The first session on March 22 will discuss the basic fiduciary responsibilities that come with operating an employer-sponsored retirement plan. ERISA’s prohibited transactions provisions and exemptions will also be covered.  You can register for this individual session, or you can register collectively for all three sessions.

The second session on March 24 will discuss ERISA’s reporting and disclosure provisions and the  DOL’s voluntary correction programs for employer-sponsored retirement plans. Register for the second part of the series.

The third session on March 29 will discuss the basic fiduciary responsibilities when operating an employer-sponsored group health plan, ERISA’s reporting and disclosure provisions, and qualified medical child support orders, or QMCSOs. Register for the third part of the series.
