Karen Meador, MD, MBA, Managing Director, BDO Center for Healthcare Excellence & Innovation - Dr. Karen Meador, a board certified pediatrician, has 25 years of healthcare experience, having served in numerous clinical and administrative leadership roles within healthcare systems and primary care organizations. Dr. Meador has expertise in leading collaborative multidisciplinary teams in creating and expanding innovative high quality programs and services that transform and integrate clinical care, research and education and that engage physicians and patients through innovative services and programs in hospital and community settings. She has extensive experience with Medicaid supported programs, designing and implementing cost-saving and quality improvement initiatives for health systems, primary care networks including FQHCs, and physician groups. Dr. Meador has been a leader in NY State Medicaid reform, advising eight Performing Provider Systems in their DSRIP (Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment Program) initiatives. She has also provided guidance and conducted due diligence for investors in healthcare provider organizations, focusing on clinical quality, operational issues, and billing and compliance matters to reduce risk and increase financial returns. Dr. Meador has also served as a persuasive expert regarding the medical necessity of medical and behavioral health services in disputes between providers and payers and in self disclosure matters to CMS.

Gina Tapper, RN, MSN, MBA, Clinical Fellow and Director, BDO Center for Healthcare Excellence & Innovation - Ms. Tapper has over 30 years of professional experience providing a wide range of management advisory and decision support services to hospitals, regional integrated health care networks, multi-system health care organizations, skilled nursing facilities, county governments and health agencies, home health care agencies, and other health care organizations. Examples of projects performed include: (1) clinical service line/ programmatic development; (2) feasibility studies/business plans: (3) operational reviews; (4) quality and continuum of care/case management; (5) clinical guidelines and practice protocols; (6) industry profiles; (7) business development/ marketing plans; (8) organizational reviews; and (9) strategic planning.

Ms. Tapper established Tapper & Associates, Consultants to the Health Care Industry after working with Price Waterhouse’s (now PwC) Management Consulting Services Group for six years. Before entering business school, she was a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Department of Pediatric Neurology/Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center in Boston, and an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatric Nursing at Boston University Graduate School of Nursing.

June Komar, Corporate Executive Vice President of Strategy and Administration, Scripps Health - June was named corporate executive vice president of strategy and administration in 2010, after serving as senior vice president, strategic planning and business development since 2002, and as vice president since 1997.
In her role, June oversees strategic planning, government and community relations and information services. She also has executive oversight for Scripps corporate services administration.

Prior to coming to Scripps in 1997, June served as director of strategic planning at Mercy Healthcare. Before that, she served for seven years as deputy chief administrative officer for the County of San Diego and as chief operating officer and interim CEO of the County of Washtenaw, Michigan.

June has received the Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) award from the YWCA, the Athena San Diego Pinnacle Award in Life Sciences, and has been recognized by Becker’s as one of the top 100 Women Executives in Health Care.

June received a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio State University and attended graduate school at the University of Michigan.
Barbara Price, MBA, Corporate Senior Vice President, Scripps Accountable Care Organization - Barbara Price joined Scripps Health in 2001 and is corporate senior vice president and chief executive of the Scripps Accountable Care Organization. In her role, she provides leadership and oversight for the physician-led, high-performing ACO network as it further develops Scripps’ population health care management and clinical care lines. Previously, Price led business and care line development at Scripps, providing expertise and guidance for the growth of Scripps’ clinical care lines, post-acute care and the operationalization of “Value by Design,” a system-wide process improvement program based on Lean business practices.
Price has extensive experience working with medical group and health system operations within competitive health care environments. Prior to joining Scripps, Price held leadership positions with Kaiser Permanente, Sharp Healthcare, KPMG Peat Marwick, Sequoia Hospital and Stanford University Medical Center. As a consultant, her clients included large medical groups, academic and community hospitals, integrated health care systems and other health care organizations.
Price received a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Walter Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. She has been recognized with a Tribute to Women and Industry Award by the YWCA, and is a board member of the Institute for Healthcare Advancement, focusing on health literacy issues and improvement.
Lisa Thakur, CPA, MBA, FACHE, FHFMA, Corporate Senior Vice President, Ancillary Operations, Scripps Health -  Lisa was named Corporate Senior Vice President of Ancillary Operations in January 2018. In her role she is responsible for most of the ancillary services across the Scripps Health system. This includes home health, laboratory, imaging, surgery, supply chain, endoscopy, and pharmacy.
Lisa joined Scripps Health in 1998 at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where she was first Chief Financial Officer and later Chief Operating Officer. In 2013, she was one of four site executives tapped to move Scripps toward a horizontal, matrixed organizational structure. As Corporate Vice President, clinical and support services, Thakur took system responsibility over supply chain, endoscopy, surgery and pharmacy, bringing new system alignment to these functions which resulted in cost savings of $130 million over six years.
Prior to joining Scripps Health in 1998, Lisa worked as a finance and business manager at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix. She also managed financial operations and human resources for Freedom Plaza Retirement Center/Care Center in Peoria, Arizona.
Lisa is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She has served on the National Board of Examiners for the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and is a past member of the National Advisory Council. She also is a member of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and has also served as president of the San Diego chapter.
Lisa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington, and a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University. In 2010, she received the Tribute to Women in Industry (TWIN) award from the YWCA. And in 2014, she received a Medal of Honor from the Healthcare Financial Management Association as well as an ACHE Regent’s Award.  In 2018, Lisa was nominated as one of the Top 10 People to Watch by the Journal of Healthcare Contracting.
