Dr. Karen Meador is a Managing Director in BDO Consulting’s Healthcare Advisory practice and a member of The BDO Center for Healthcare Excellence & Innovation. She is experienced in creating and expanding innovative programs and services designed to transform clinical care, research and education in the ambulatory, emergency and inpatient settings. She has expertise in government health care programs, designing and implementing cost-saving and quality improvement initiatives for academic medical centers, community health centers including FQHCs, and provider groups participating in Medicaid waiver DSRIP programs. She also provides clinical and regulatory due diligence for M&A transactions and complex compliance and legal matters.
As a Physician Executive at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Dr. Meador served in clinical and administrative leadership roles across the spectrum of health care delivery. She was President of two subsidiary corporations, for which she expanded an outpatient primary care network, founded a physician staffing company, launched an urgent care center and hospitalist program, and served on the leadership team that expanded an academic pediatric hospital and launched a new community hospital. As Vice President of Research Administration, she led an NIH Funded Pharmacology Research Unit and was responsible for the contracting, administration, and compliance of over 600 ongoing clinical trials. Dr. Meador also served as an Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care Pediatrician at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
