Executive Summary

Dr. Kall Loper leads BDO’s Data Breach Review (DBR) services offering. DBR combines cyber incident response and business crisis management to serve BDO’s clients and their counsel during cyber security events. The active components of BDO’s DBR service provide clients with a defensible understanding of data exposed and possibly exposed by threat actors and insider threats. Preventive and protective components of DBR guide corporate leaders and Boards of Directors to anticipate threats and plan for effective response, business continuity, and recovery activities. Kall has provided incident response, threat intelligence, and corporate crisis management to clients through hundreds of incidents and investigations over 25 years of direct service with additional years as a researcher in cyber threat.

Kall has conducted, planned and directed forensic investigations and cyber incident responses for clients of his firm, Loper Forensic Services; Big Four advisory, Big Four incident response, as national practice leader for a global consulting firm, and most recently as Global Practice Leader for a security company with global operations. He is also a professor at Southern Methodist University’s Department of Computer Science teaching in the graduate cyber security program and author of SMU’s forensic and incident response course.

Kall has been involved in computer forensics and security since 1997. He participated in the development of and co-authored Electronic Crime Scene Investigations: A Guide for First Responders, 2nd & 3rd editions. The First Responders Guide is published by the United States Department of Justice and is provided to Federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies as a primary resource for evidence collection. Kall authored/co-authored numerous articles, presentations, and books in digital forensics and incident response.
