BDO's Retail & Consumer Products practice has just released its 2014 Retail Compass Survey of CMOs. The ninth annual edition of the study asked 100 chief marketing officers from leading U.S. retailers about their sales projections, promotional tactics, Black Friday and Cyber Monday projections, priority marketing channels and more. This year, we found that retailers were already anticipating earlier-than-ever sales, forcing them to reconsider the timing of their promotional strategies-both in-store and online. As part of their marketing approach for this season, retailers remain focused on developing their digital channels, and both social media and mobile marketing continue to grow across the industry.
