Shawn Simmons

Shawn has 30 years of experience working in the real estate and asset management industries and has provided audit and accounting services to a variety of public and private client and various types of holding companies and fund structures.

Shawn has deep experience in accounting and auditing issues, as well as with Sarbanes Oxley 404 control matters. Shawn has IPO, merger and extensive secondary offering experience with a variety of public homebuilders, real estate service companies and REITs. 

For over 15 years Shawn has worked with a variety of private equity funds, fund of funds, master/feeder funds, offshore domiciled funds, and registered investment advisors holding investments in various asset classes. He has been instrumental advising clients in all sizes from pre-fund formation to working with very large funds structures. 

Shawn previously spent 29 years working at a Big Four accounting firm before joining BDO where he leads the Real Estate and Asset Management audit practice in Denver, Colorado. Shawn is a CPA in California and Colorado.
