New York – July 28, 2016
— BDO Consulting, a division of BDO USA, LLP, one of the nation’s leading professional services organizations, today announced the appointment of e-discovery luminary George Socha
, Jr., Esq. as Managing Director in the firm’s Forensic Technology Services
practice. In this role, he will assist corporate, law firm and government clients with all facets of e-discovery, including information governance, domestically and across the globe.
“We are extremely pleased that George Socha, the widely renowned co-founder of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, has chosen to join BDO’s high-caliber Forensic Technology Services practice,” said Carl W. Pergola, Executive Director of BDO Consulting. “George has set the legal industry standard for the management and discovery of electronic records in litigation; his addition to the practice will enable us to continue to provide exceptional service for our clients.”
“Between the evolving international data privacy landscape and new rules on proportionality, e-discovery is due for a reset,” said Stephanie Giammarco
, Partner and National Leader of BDO’s Forensic Technology Services practice. “As the creator of the industry standards, George brings an unparalleled level of insight and ability to innovate best practices as the digital universe evolves. He is the rare individual fluent in litigation and technology who is uniquely positioned to help our global clients plan effectively, implement successfully and testify as necessary.”
“Ultimately, the success of an e-discovery project comes down to technology and people—and even the most cutting-edge technology is ineffective without the right people,” Mr. Socha said. “The team at BDO leverages their state-of-the-art technology with a truly consultative approach and a deep understanding of the real-world challenges facing the legal industry. I’m excited to add my perspective to the firm’s distinguished e-discovery practice.”
One of the most influential thinkers in the industry, Mr. Socha’s extensive knowledge has been used as the foundation for his delivery of more than 200 presentations on e-discovery, in addition to having provided expert testimony on over 20 matters. Prior to joining BDO, Mr. Socha spent 16 years as a litigation attorney in private practice before starting his own consulting firm focused on e-discovery issues in 2003.
