Tony Lawrence

Tony is the Central Region Managing Principal of Assurance Services at BDO, leading over 500 assurance professionals in 14 cities across the Midwest.

Tony has more than 25 years of experience in public accounting. His practice experience includes work with public and privately held entities, with international and domestic ventures. Tony is a key advisor to his clients concerning mergers and acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, and alternative debt arrangements.

Tony has consulted and advised several investors, owners, executive level managers, and equity funds over his career in several various areas: manufacturing, real estate management, material price controls, throughput, make versus buy, manufacturing locations and labor costs, machine utilization, and family-owned transitions and start-ups. He understands the pressures that come with balancing management oversight with ownership satisfaction.

Tony was elected to BDO’s Board of Directors in 2016 and continues to serve on the Board, chairing and participating in several committees and providing valuable insight for firm success. He has also been the national lead of the firm’s strategic plan focused on Culture and Inclusion.

Tony is involved in his local community and has served on several community and foundation boards, including Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids Art Museum and several other local efforts.
