Executive Summary

Jan Herringer has spent over 11 years with BDO as part of the firm’s National Assurance practice. She focuses on the auditing standards of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA’s) Auditing Standards Board (ASB) and the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board. She is responsible for ensuring firm compliance with all applicable auditing standards through the review, development, and updating of firm methodology and supporting forms and templates, as well as responding to questions from the field on audit-related matters. She is also responsible for drafting content for various auditing and accounting publications with internal and external distribution, including the AICPA’s Public Company Update. Additionally, she actively participates in the standard-setting process through the development of comment letters on auditing and reporting matters.
Prior to joining BDO, Jan was a technical manager in the Professional Ethics Division of the AICPA, where she performed investigations of alleged violations of the Code of Conduct of the AICPA. In this capacity, she presented cases before the Technical Standards Subcommittee and the Joint Trial Board Panel.
Jan has been a member of the New York State Society of CPAs for over 10 years and has served as the Chair of the Auditing Standards Committee and Accounting and Auditing Oversight Committee. In addition, she is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Society and most recently completed a year of service on the Executive Board.
