Jesse Hertstein

As BDO’s Director of Sustainability Strategy and Operations, Jesse Hertstein supports the firm’s client services, which range from sustainability strategies and programs, to reporting compliance, to decarbonization and project finance. He also supports BDO’s corporate sustainability strategy and net zero goals. He is part of the BDO Sustainability Center of Excellence and is a member of the Sustainability Leadership Team.

Jesse has more than 19 years of experience in the areas of environmental sustainability and social impact. He has worked for both corporate and consulting organizations, providing thought leadership and building strategic partnerships with internal and global teams, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, small businesses and entrepreneurs. He works on the cutting-edge of sustainability trends, best practices and standards, with extensive experience in communications, storytelling and strategy.

Outside of his professional roles, Jesse has been involved in many organizations and causes, including the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce Center for Community Leadership, the Literacy Center of Western Michigan, the Global Corporate Volunteer Council, Junior Achievement, and the Economic Club of Grand Rapids.
