BDO USA Releases Its 2025 Sustainability Report

  • BDO USA has released its latest Sustainability Report, detailing progress and impact across the firm, its communities and the environment.
  • The firm advanced its climate commitments with the validation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), procuring renewable energy certificates (RECs), and conducting its first climate scenario analysis.
  • Other key milestones included leadership and strategic expansion announcements, as well as continued progress within the firm’s social impact strategy.


CHICAGO, JUNE 30, 2026 – BDO USA, one of the nation’s leading accounting and advisory firms, today released its latest sustainability report. The report highlights BDO’s efforts to integrate sustainability strategies and programs into the firm that are aligned with its values and drive meaningful impact on business, people, communities and the environment.

Over the past year, BDO has continued to evolve its operational and cultural programs and inspire an ownership mindset. Highlights from 2025 include:

  • Elected Matt Becker as next CEO of BDO USA, effective July 1, 2026
  • Completed largest strategic expansion to date, adding more than 1,300 professionals from HORNE LLP to better meet client needs including expanded state and local government services
  • Mobilized over 23,000 volunteer hours
  • Donated $3.5M to nonprofit organizations and communities
  • Offered 177 inclusion events
  • Achieved 84% in the Employee Engagement Index within BDO’s annual employee Pulse survey
  • Completed its first climate scenario analysis, sharpening insights around climate risks and opportunities throughout firm operations
  • Continued the integration of sustainability levers into performance improvement solutions that help drive efficiency and cost reductions for its clients

In 2025, BDO reached a milestone on its path to net-zero — having its near-term, long-term and net-zero GHG emission reduction targets validated by SBTi. BDO also procured RECs to match its electricity consumption, meeting its goal to source 100% renewable energy.

BDO’s sustainability report has been prepared with reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 2021 Universal Standards and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) 2018 standard for the Professional & Commercial Services industry, and in conformance with the final Report of Recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD, 2017). The report reflects financial, people and emissions data from the firm’s calendar year 2025 (January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025).
