New Compensation Surveys Practice Helps Organizations Attract & Retain Top Talent

CHICAGO – August 28, 2018 – BDO USA, LLP introduced today a suite of proprietary compensation surveys to complement the guidance it offers to organizations on all aspects of performance and compensation design.

The industry-specific surveys will provide valuable insights for both domestic and multinational organizations seeking to benchmark their compensation and benefits programs against industry peers. Organizations can use these results to design competitive compensation programs essential to driving their strategy forward.

“Benchmarking surveys add another layer of context in helping organizations understand the various mechanisms influencing their ability to attract, retain and reward critical talent across the globe,” said Andrew Gibson, partner and leader of BDO’s Compensation and Benefits practice. “Integrating these results into their broader compensation design strategy can strengthen their competitiveness worldwide, while helping to ensure fair and equitable pay.”

BDO plans to initially offer a core set of six surveys in which companies can participate. These cover topics such as executive, board, sales, and broad-based compensation policies, practices and levels including salary, annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and perks and benefits. The hallmark of the surveys is a drill-down into special topics such as turnover, executive supplemental retirement and severance benefits, sales representative pay-for-performance, and global compensation levels. Industries currently covered include Health Insurance, Clinical Research Outsourcing, HR Outsourcing and Guaranty Fund Associations.

BDO’s deep experience in conducting international surveys using its extensive global network is further reflected in these initial offerings—the Clinical Research Outsourcing survey, for example, covers over 50 countries. Additional industry-specific surveys will be added to meet the ever increasing demand.

In addition to these six annual surveys, BDO offers organizations the ability to conduct custom surveys for their company, association or industry. BDO’s surveys are specifically tailored to each client’s strategic needs. The opportunity to customize the number and type of participants, questions and topics gives organizations the ability to directly compare themselves to their most relevant industry groups and peer set, both domestically and abroad.

“Our global surveys cover specific niches that can be overshadowed in larger compensation surveys,” said Judy Canavan, managing director and leader of BDO’s Compensation Surveys practice. “Highly-focused surveys give organizations more precise intelligence about what’s actually happening among their peer group, ensuring that their new strategies are fair and competitive and that they remain one step ahead of the curve. These meaningful insights are invaluable in talent management and recruitment worldwide.”

The surveys will be offered through BDO’s Compensation and Benefits practice, which helps organizations navigate all aspects of compensation plans, from setting an appropriate philosophy to implementing compensation vehicles, such as qualified and nonqualified plans, short-term and long-term incentives and equity compensation.
