Appoints Actuary James Evans as National Practice Leader

New York – Jan. 24, 2017 — BDO Consulting, a division of BDO USA, LLP, one of the nation’s leading professional services organizations, today announced the expansion of the Insurance Advisory Services practice, appointing James Evans as managing director and National Practice Leader.
 
An accredited actuary, Mr. Evans joins BDO with more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industries, where he has helped organizations quantify and price for key risks, implement and support compliance programs, streamline operations and increase profitability.
 
Combining BDO’s deep insurance industry knowledge with the firm’s data analytics and data visualization capabilities, the Insurance Advisory Services practice will provide a range of actuarial services, predictive modeling, data management and machine learning tools that enable insurance companies to make informed, data-driven decisions. Risk and capital management services include practical modeling and business transformation solutions designed to help clients spotlight gaps in their current enterprise risk management plan, predict and plan for future potential risks, and identify variables that will impact overall profitability and growth.

Mr. Evans has worked on numerous consulting engagements in both the United States and Bermuda, where he has helped organizations build risk management systems, navigate national and international regulatory demands, and optimize growth and profitability. Prior to joining BDO, Mr. Evans worked as a chief actuary for a Bermuda captive reinsurer, where he led a team of actuaries preparing for the European Solvency II regulatory changes. Previously, he worked as actuarial director at a large accounting and consulting firm, specializing in reinsurance industry engagements in the firm’s Advisory Group. He has also worked with investment, audit and reserving board committees at a number of insurance companies. Mr. Evans earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Georgia State University.
