The economic uncertainty and geopolitical turmoil of the last 12 months has dampened global media merger and acquisition (M&A) activity. While the first half of last year saw some exceptionally large deals, the last six months were marked by smaller transactions. Despite the challenging conditions, global M&A deal value still pushed north of USD$210bn.

Private equity (PE) activity remained strong in the second half of the year, with acquisitions across the media spectrum with a trend towards deals in game development and other technology-led areas.
