BDO USA Named One of the 100 Best Companies by Seramount for the 11th Consecutive Year

CHICAGO, September 28, 2021 – Seramount (formerly Working Mother Media) today named BDO USA, LLP as one of the 2021 100 Best Companies for the 11th consecutive year, as well as included the firm in the magazine’s 2021 Best Companies for Dads list. BDO joins a group of honorees recognized for their comprehensive approach to inclusive benefits for working parents, such as flexible hours and programs to support their employees throughout COVID-19.

“Working parents were uniquely impacted by the events of the past 18 months. It has never been more vital to ensure we provide the necessary support and resources to our working mothers and fathers, so that they can thrive both at work and at home,” said BDO Chief People Officer Cathy Moy. “It is an honor to be once again recognized by Seramount. Creating and fostering an inclusive and flexible culture is a team effort, and I am grateful to all the BDO USA professionals who ensure our culture works for every one of us.”

Additionally, BDO USA is pleased to present the firm’s 2021 Working Mother and Working Dad of the Year: audit partner Sofia Blair and senior instructional designer Michael Sweet. In the past year, Sofia and Michael have exemplified BDO’s core values by adapting amid uncertainty and balancing their work responsibilities and the needs of their families each day.

“Trust is the foundation of the relationships I’ve formed at BDO, which allows me to set boundaries between home and work as I’ve grown both my family and career,” said Blair. “The people I work with are like family, and I always feel empowered to advocate for my needs as a working parent, knowing that these requests will be met with understanding and support.”

“BDO’s approach to flexibility allows me to be more involved in the lives of my two children. Having a culture of flexibility that allows me to spend one-on-one time with them during the day has been instrumental in building our strong father-child relationships,” said Sweet. “I feel fortunate to work at a company that actively listens to and partners with working parents to ensure they are able to succeed professionally while maintaining their responsibilities at home.”

Building on over a decade of a flexible work culture, BDO reimagined its flexible workplace strategy in May 2021 to allow teams to collaborate on where, when and how they work based on day-to-day responsibilities. By encouraging BDO professionals and teams to rethink how they work best, the firm is fostering a culture that encourages exceptional performance, allowing for agile and resilient business practices and teams.

“Working parents and caregivers have had to shoulder so much responsibility throughout the pandemic, and our 100 Best Companies continue to offer support through their generous programs and benefits,” says Subha V. Barry, President of Seramount. “These companies have made the needs of their employees a priority, and we celebrate their commitment to creating an inclusive workplace culture where this critical talent pool can thrive.”
