Doug Bekker

Doug is a principal in BDO’s national tax office. In this role, Doug serves as one of the primary resources in the firm’s Subchapter C and M&A group. He assists clients across the country in tax planning involving acquisitions, reorganizations and restructuring, net operating loss and tax attribute planning, consolidated returns, and incentives for investments in qualified small business stock.

Doug is a trusted leader in the national tax office on property and casualty insurance taxation, as well as the federal taxation of captive insurance companies. Doug serves as the tax leader for the BDO national insurance industry group.

Doug has more than 27 years of experience in public accounting. During his career, he has managed the tax practice for BDO’s West Michigan practice, a group of over 100 professionals. He has also managed the overall client relationships of multinational manufacturers, as well as insurance companies and banks, among other industries. These clients have included family held businesses, private equity owned business and publicly traded corporations.

Prior to joining BDO, Doug managed federal tax consulting projects in the accounting methods and inventory areas at Big Four and was a tax manager in another accounting firm’s federal tax group.
