Committed to serving the
nonprofit community:
From nonprofit, educational, charitable, and social organizations to foundations and trade associations, nonprofit organizations represent a broad array of missions and activities. Operating in an environment that is far more challenging than ever, they also share important commonalities. The economic downturn has driven increased demand for services while revenues are under tremendous pressure. Regulatory complexity has increased, particularly for nonprofit organizations that receive federal funds, while the IRS and private watchdog groups invite more scrutiny.
BDO's Nonprofit & Education Practice understands these challenges. Working with your management and board members, we combine extensive experience serving nonprofit clients with industry leadership and insight to address the nuances of nonprofit financial and operational management.
We know that operating in a climate of change and complexity you look to your advisors for proactive guidance. Our professionals provide swift resolution of technical issues through partner-led client service teams and direct access to technical leaders. And, if your mission takes you beyond U.S. borders delivering services, medical supplies, equipment, human or financial capital, our global network in more than 100 countries stands ready to serve in Africa, South America, Eastern Europe or wherever in the world you operate.
BDO Institute for Nonprofit ExcellenceSM - Our Continued Commitment to the Nonprofit Industry
As one of the only national accounting firms with a strategic commitment to the nonprofit industry, we bring added perspective through the BDO Institute for Nonprofit ExcellenceSM (the Institute). Externally, the Institute provides a national technical resource that exists to assist our clients and the industry. Internally, the Institute is our thought leadership center which assists client service teams around the country in developing innovative and practical tax, accounting and operational planning for our nonprofit clients. The Institute produces numerous publications, including a quarterly electronic newsletter, Nonprofit Standard, that focuses on the distinct needs of the nonprofit sector by addressing accounting, tax and operational issues such as executive compensation, Federal Form 990 issues and compliance with OMB Circulars. The Institute also sponsors educational seminars locally or via webcasts on issues such as fair value accounting, new Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting Standards Updates (ASU) implementation and compliance, tax planning, and a variety of management topics.
