Meet BDO's Chief People Officer

When BDO USA CEO Wayne Berson asked Cathy Moy to serve as the company’s first-ever Chief People Officer, she seized the opportunity to leverage her experience and unique point of view to strengthen BDO’s culture. As a working mother of three who was also asked to lead the firm’s Boston assurance practice and act as lead partner on some of its largest public company audit clients, Cathy inherently understood that culture was foundational to BDO and would be the firm’s most powerful business lever.

In her role as Chief People Officer, Cathy translated the firm’s vision and values into a course of action to build and sustain a strong corporate culture and create an atmosphere of trust. Working with Wayne and the rest of the executive team, she set out to create a world-class, purpose-centered environment where people would feel empowered to do their best work and be their best selves. To Cathy, culture is no longer a nice-to-have but rather a must-have and a key driver and competitive advantage for business. She believes investing in culture translates into equity for the firm, tangible value that leads to resilience even in challenging times.

While culture itself is built, culture equity is earned—earned by the mindset and actions of business leaders who intentionally, authentically and sustainably create an environment that helps people thrive.
