He is also well-versed in integrating large mortgage portfolio purchases, including trust reporting, and implementing credit card rules.
Prior to joining BDO, Thomas served as a technical expert at a Big Four accounting firm in the areas of loan, fair market value, and investment accounting, as well as mortgage company operations--including servicing, underwriting, debt collections, accounting, reporting, compliance, and other related activities. He has been an internal audit executive at Fannie Mae, where he was responsible for accounting, capital markets, and financial and model validation. He was also responsible for various risk groups and served as a non-voting member of the risk oversight committee. In addition, Thomas held an officer-level position at Sallie Mae, where he was in charge of the loan-reporting and analysis group, which was charged with overseeing the allowance for loan loss, analysis of the loan-servicing operations, and performing net operating income calculations.
