Mark Andersen is an Assurance Partner and Leader of BDO’s Technology practice in Greater Washington, D.C. With more than 23 years of public and corporate accounting experience, Mark focuses on working with technology and life sciences companies. His clients range from early-stage startups to well-established privately held and publicly traded middle-market enterprises with domestic and international operations. His background in both public accounting and private industry allows him to provide practical insight into his clients’ accounting issues. Mark provides the following services to his clients:
  • Attestation services under both US GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Consultation and advising on revenue recognition as it pertains to software licensing, vendor-specific objective evidence (VSOE), multiple-element arrangements, hosting, cloud computing and patent settlements
  • Accounting for equity instruments such as stock options, stock warrants, SARs, etc.
  • Development and implementation of effective internal controls over accounting and financial reporting
Prior to joining BDO, Mark served as Partner at Argy, Wiltse & Robinson, P.C. He also served as the controller at a venture-backed software development company in Reston, Virginia and at a large nonprofit organization in Erie, Pennsylvania. He also was a member of the government contracting and technology practice at American Express Tax & Business Services in Rockville, Maryland.
