Executive Summary

Lia Patton has over 15 years of auditing and accounting experience. She serves as the Anchorage office’s lead in audits of Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) entities, nonprofit entities, federal and state of Alaska Single Audits, employee benefit plan audits, and alternative investments. She oversees large, complex engagements and the benefit plan audits for the entire Anchorage office.
Prior to joining BDO, Lia was an audit partner with Mikunda, Cottrell and Co. She directs the staff government contracting, employee benefit plan, and investment audit training for the Anchorage office. Lia has been a frequent speaker on the topic of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) for organizations such as the ERISA Forum and the Associated General Contractors of Alaska. She also participates in the development and implementation of BDO’s national strategies and initiatives, including activities that support industry, business, technical, and client service goals. In addition, she is passionate about creating a culture of flexibility, diversity and inclusion within BDO.
Lia believes in and supports the BDO Women’s Initiative and Flex strategies by hosting many of the local office events focused on women’s networking and career development and by serving as a mentor both locally and nationally.
