Jeff Tubaugh is a partner in the Tax practice at BDO’s Columbus office. He focuses on domestic tax compliance, planning, and consulting for corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and individuals. His business clients are in a variety of industries including restaurants, real estate, law firms, architecture firms, and healthcare. 

Jeff is a leader in the national Restaurants industry practice at BDO. His restaurant clients include single location local restaurants as well as national concepts with over 100 locations. He has been a speaker at the firm’s Restaurant CFO Bootcamp and other restaurant conferences, and he also contributes to the restaurant practice blog, Selections. He is the tax training lead for the restaurant practice, coordinating national technical training to internal team members. 

Beyond annual compliance, Jeff has extensive experience in consulting with clients on restructuring their entities to streamline activities and lower their tax burden. He also consults with clients on buying and selling businesses, including clients with transactions involving private equity investments.

Jeff’s background also includes cost segregation with expertise in fixed assets. Cost segregation studies consist of analyzing a building’s structural versus non-structural components for accelerated depreciation tax savings. Jeff has provided tax savings using this technique for clients owning restaurants, nursing homes, country clubs, manufacturing and distribution facilities, medical offices, retail stores, and general office space.
