Executive Summary

Jay Powers joined BDO in 2014, bringing more than 20 years of corporate financial advisory experience. He works closely with the firm’s Corporate Finance affiliate, BDO Capital Advisors, LLC.  Prior to joining BDO, Jay was the Practice Leader for ESOP Advisory Services with Navigant Capital Advisors, LLC. Prior to his time at Navigant, Jay was a Managing Director and Group Head of ESOP Investment Banking with Citi Capital Strategies, a division of Citigroup, leading M&A execution in the Southeast and ESOP deal execution across the United States. Previously, Jay was a Managing Director with Duff & Phelps, LLC, in the ESOP Advisory Group. Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Jay held senior positions at two national financial advisory firms. He was also previously employed in the financial advisory group of Ernst & Young, LLP, as well as NationsBank (now Bank of America).

Jay has provided services to clients for a variety of purposes, including fairness opinions for corporate transactions; solvency opinions; structuring, feasibility, and valuation analyses for leveraged and unleveraged ESOPs and corporate advisory services related to the sale; merger and divestiture advisory assignments of privately held companies and public and private company subsidiaries.

Jay speaks frequently on corporate finance-related topics at events sponsored by such organizations as the ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO).
