Executive Summary

Gary Romer has more than 20 years of public accounting experience. He focuses on the real estate industry and has experience with real estate fund audits, as well as with the affordable housing market, particularly the historic and low-income housing tax credit programs. Gary’s experience also includes accounting, modeling and forecasting, auditing and compliance of projects subject to the regulatory requirements of the Single Audit Act and OMB Circular A-133, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and various state agencies.

Over the course of his career, Gary has worked with a variety of municipalities and state organizations subject to Government Auditing Standards and the Specifications for Audits of Authorities, Boards, and Commissions. He has also worked with numerous not-for-profit organizations, many of which are subject to the requirements of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget Circular A-133. In addition, he has experience with a variety of for-profit businesses, including those in the manufacturing and service industries. 
Gary works extensively with real estate–owning entities, investors, developers, and housing authorities, providing services required in structuring real estate transactions and in performing compliance audits and cost certifications. Gary is an industry resource for the HUD electronic filing requirements and for preparing financial statements in accordance with various regulatory agencies. He is also a National Leader in BDO’s Real Estate Industry practice.
