Executive Summary

Eric Sobota is the National Leader of BDO’s Industry Specialty Services practice and co-leads the firm’s life sciences industry strategy. The Industry Specialty Services practice, comprising over 65 professionals, provides unique business solutions to organizations across a wide array of industries, including government contracting, life sciences, not-for-profit, manufacturing, technology, and construction.

Eric has extensive experience in government contracts, including application of the principles from both the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and the newly promulgated Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Administrative Requirements for Federal Awards (the “Super Circular”). He also has extensive litigation experience in government contracting matters. He has represented both protestors and interveners in bid protest matters at the Government Accountability Office (GAO). In handling these matters, Eric regularly conducts independent expert evaluations of cost models employed by federal agencies in order to adjust the projected cost and proposed price adjustments. He has provided declarations to support independent and alternative costing models, in addition to being named as a testifying expert at hearing. 

Eric’s extensive experience working with life sciences organizations includes consulting with pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device manufacturers at every stage of development. He and his team provide program and project management, gap assessments, contract negotiations, integrated product development planning, and process improvement services.

Eric also has extensive experience working with manufacturers of all sizes to address the operational and data complexities inherent in commercial contracting. In addition, he and his team have extensive experience working with both branded and generic pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device manufacturers of all sizes to address the operational and data complexities arising from government guidance and pricing requirements.

Eric also provides life sciences organizations with a broad range of support for their current and potential government award portfolios in the areas of biodefense and pandemic response. He has designed and implemented systems to address the financial accounting, project management and compliance issues facing government award recipients.
