BDO Achieves

In the spring, BDO was honored by The National Association for Female Executives  (NAFE) as one of the Top Companies for Executive Women.

BDO Expands

According to BDO’s 10th annual Retail RiskFactor Report, cybersecurity is cited as one of the top risks for retailers. Women’s Wear Daily published a report in their article, “Cybersecurity Cited as Top Retail Risk Factor,” quoting BDO’s Shahryar Shaghaghi, Technology Advisory Services National Leader and Head of International BDO Cybersecurity.

In addition to the retail sector, as cyber risk continues to permeate nearly all industries, BDO’s Technology Advisory Services practice has expanded its cybersecurity insurance and data privacy capabilities with the addition of Managing Directors Deena Coffman and Judy Selby, as well as its IT strategy and optimization services with the addition of Director Jessica Allen.
Called "one of the premier voices in legal technology" by Legaltech News, Judy Selby joins BDO with more than 20 years of experience in insurance and technology, where she will provide guidance to organizations and their counsel on cyber insurance, cybersecurity, information governance, data privacy and complex insurance issues.
Deena Coffman joins BDO with more than 20 years of experience in information security, strategic planning and risk management, where she will advise clients on technology infrastructure, cybersecurity and data privacy, as well as e-discovery and compliance issues.
Experienced in developing enterprise-wide programs encompassing IT strategy, CIO advisory and IT optimization and innovation, Jessica Allen joins BDO with more than 15 years of experience.

BDO Consulting professionals have been traveling the globe sharing their knowledge and experience with professional communities.
BDO Consulting Manager Laura Austin, shared her expertise on “The Necessary Evolution of the Investment Migration Due Diligence Model” at the Investment Migration Forum which took place in Geneva this past June.
“The opportunity to speak in front of prominent foreign investment firms was a significant milestone in my professional development, enabling me to offer insights about my work to a broad audience,” Laura said. “It was exciting to facilitate a sophisticated dialogue on the topic of due diligence and the evolution of the Citizenship by Investment industry.”
Further east, BDO Consulting Director Nidhi Rao organized the Anti-Corruption Compliance and Risk Management Master Class 2016 hosted by BDO International and the American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM) Conference, where she moderated and participated in a variety of sessions.  Nidhi also spoke at a joint conference organized by BDO, DLA Piper and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), participating in a panel discussion about anti-corruption. 
Speaking at the 22nd Annual International Bar Association Global Insolvency and Restructuring Conference in Milan, Italy, BDO Consulting Managing Director Michele Michaelis, joined an international panel of attorneys to discuss current trends and cases in retail bankruptcies, distressed transactions and the future of the industry.
In New York, Partner and BDO Forensic Technology Services Practice Leader Stephanie Giammarco moderated a panel about the relevance of digital evidence, entitled “The Art and Science of Computer Forensics: Why Hillary Clinton’s Email and Tom Brady’s Cell Phone Matter” at ACEDS 2016 eDiscovery Conference. BDO has been a sponsor of ACEDS for the past 5 years.

BDO Gives Back

BDO was a proud sponsor of the Anti-Defamation League’s 23rd Annual Women of Achievement Awards dinner that took place in Chicago in the spring. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is a not-for-profit organization that works to defend justice and fair treatment and fight discrimination of all kinds. The dinner honored women who exemplify the mission of ADL and work to raise awareness and understanding through their efforts to improve communication and understanding among the diverse racial, religious and ethnic communities of Chicago.
In Boston, BDO Consulting Director Alicia Amaral has been spending time on the steering committee for the Women’s Association of Venture & Equity, Inc. (WAVE), a not-for-profit that focuses on networking and creating opportunity and networking for women who work in or are affiliated with the private equity and venture capital industry.
“Participating in WAVE allowed me to meet and build relationships with a number of new colleagues in the PE and VC space while building programming geared towards the advancement of women” Alicia said.
