Employment tax has increasingly become a focus of federal and state taxing authorities. Based upon our experience with the employment tax audit process, and confirmed through our extensive experience with the restaurant industry, we intend to discuss the following “top” employment tax issues:

  • Proper reporting entity/common law employer
  • Requirements for entering into new state and local jurisdictions
  • Fringe Benefits
  • Expense Reimbursement/Accountable Plan process
  • Multistate Withholding
  • Transaction Issues involving the movement of employees between entities (M&A, reorganizations, etc.)
  • General Controversy Process
  • Independent Contractors
  • Other Employment Tax issues

Our April roundtable discussion will be lead by Robert Kaelber. Rob is a managing director in BDO’s STS – Employment Tax practice and has 17 years of employment tax consulting experience.
