In this course we will identify actions that your tax department can take now, ahead of year-end, to ready your team, workpapers and systems for the annual provision reporting period.  With a focus on tax provision software, tax data and other emerging technologies, we'll guide you through how to best leverage the tools at your disposal to confidently tackle year-end close and build upon that foundation to transition seamlessly into your 2020 compliance season.

  • Mike has more than 12 years of experience as a tax professional in both public accounting and industry.  His experience includes ASC 740 tax reporting, federal compliance and multi-state direct & indirect taxation for large multi-national corporations.  While in industry he focused on implementing process improvements, including trial balance automation & sensitization, state apportionment automation, sales tax dashboarding, and fixed asset process optimization to name a few.
  • BDO Tax Performance Engineering provides tax process improvement, automation and software optimization services for BDO clients.  Mike’s industry experience allows him to better understand the tax reporting and technology/process challenges that tax departments are facing, and his tax technical and technology experience helps him to deliver successful project outcomes for his clients.
 

Haley Dobre - Tax Managing Director, Tax Performance Engineering, BDO USA, LLP

  • Haley has over 14 years of experience in global tax accounting and compliance reporting, including experience auditing income tax accruals for SEC registrants.
  • Her focus over the last 5+ years has been dedicated to tax process improvement: assisting tax departments with the development of a risk-based approach to the global income tax reporting process and maximizing the efficiency of these processes through the use of technology. This allows for more time to be devoted to analytics and review, versus data manipulation and maintenance of spreadsheets.
  • Tax Performance Engineering involves a review of all aspects of the tax function: Process, Data, Software & Workforce. Haley’s tax technical knowledge and experience working in large, global tax departments, coupled with her knowledge of various technology solutions, has led to highly successful project results.
