Nonprofit organizations are often exempt from paying taxes. However, the increased regulatory environment has increased taxation issues and compliance requirements - making it difficult for nonprofits to navigate.

This half-day supersession will focus on tax considerations that will help you stay ahead of the curve.

This event will be divided into the following four sessions:

  • Session 1 - General Nonprofit Tax Update
  • Session 2 - State & Local Tax Considerations for Nonprofits
  • Session 3 - Unrelated Business Income
  • Session 4 - Tax-Exempt Bonds

7:45 AM to 8:15 AM - Registration, Networking and Breakfast

8:15 AM to 11:45 AM - Session

Upon the completion of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Identify and review IRS developments from the past year that may impact 2015 filings
  • Review some of the complexities related to state and local tax nexus and explain how this applies to nonprofits
  • Discuss the applicability of sales and use taxes to nonprofit, including liability to pay such taxes on purchases and the responsibility to collect such taxes on certain sales
  • Highlight nonprofit organization exposure to property taxes and recent assessment efforts in certain jurisdictions
  • Discuss the computation of unrelated business income
  • Identify and explain compliance responsibilities related to tax-exempt bond issue
