BDO USA, LLP and the IIA Chicago Chapter invite you to join us for a unique educational and networking opportunity. This half day training will focus on risks and lack of controls/process and procedures relating to (a) sales and use taxes, unclaimed property obligations, and general enterprise risk matters.

Topic #1 Controls and Risk Assessments/How to Evaluate Risks and Identify Adequate Controls
Evaluating various risk assessment models to assess risks for a variety of purposes: Fraud, Compliance, Enterprise, IT, etc. This session will also include exploring best practices when building the right program to address the identified risks and establishing the right controls for you organization.

Topic #2 Sales and Use Tax Process and Controls: What You Should Know to Address Compliance Risks

Processes and controls to be discussed include managing nexus and filing obligations, making taxability decisions, using tax application systems, and managing exemption documentation, audits and loss contingencies

Topic #3 Global Mapping of Operation and/or Accounting Process to Mitigate and Address Unclaimed Property Control Weaknesses

Discuss best practices for unclaimed property risk mitigation including global mapping initiative, due diligence procedures, voluntary disclosure process, refund opportunities, etc.
