As the second quarter comes to a close, we wanted to provide a short recap of the past three months and the various stories and trends we have covered. Since April, we have focused extensively on news from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)—both around the new revenue recognition accounting standard, as well as the Board’s proposed Accounting Standards Update, Not-for-Profit Entities (Topic 958) and Health Care Entities (Topic 954) – Presentation of Financial Statements of Not-for-Profi­t Entities. In addition to these landmark proposals, we have discussed a number of important topics, including Form 990 updates, best practices for combating nonprofit fraud, and organizations’ need to measure and communicate their success.
