Infographic: 2013 Compass Survey of Retail CMOs

We have about two weeks left in the holiday shopping season, and, so far, the mixed results we’ve seen have fallen in line with the modestly positive projections we gathered from our 2013 Compass Survey of Retail CMOs. As we noted last week, Thanksgiving weekend sales saw slight growth compared to 2012, indicating that, overall, retailers may experience a more realistic, tempered holiday season this year.

While we won’t know the full results of this year’s season for several weeks, we are well aware that retailers are heavily focused in their efforts to stay ahead of these cautious predictions through finely tuning their marketing strategies. As our annual survey displayed, CMOs anticipated more discounts and promotions this year to encourage spending, and companies are honing in on digital strategies such as Big Data and social media in order to better leverage information about existing customers and attract new ones.

For more info on these strategies, as well as retailers’ holiday expectations by the numbers, we invite you to check out our newest infographic below. If you’d like more information on our Retail Compass Survey of CMOs, read the full report here.
