Search Interface
The search interface offers three environments:
The Search page offers several useful options. It includes:
A title bar, including links to the Advanced Search page, Preferences page, Desktop Search page, and online Help.
A search box, providing the space in which you type the search terms.
A Search button, to launch the query.
The Search page is designed to simplify your search experience. Yet, it is far from being a basic search-only place as you can also use the query syntax (search operators and system fields) to refine your query. However, the Advanced Search page offers easier methods for creating complex queries.
For more information on the query syntax, see About the Query Syntax.
The Advanced Search page is accessible at all times from the link in the title bar of the Search Interface. It includes:
A title bar, including links to the Advanced Search page, Preferences page, Toolbar page, and online Help.
The names of the collections available for you to query on.
A Keywords section, providing proximity parameters and a space for query syntax and search terms.
A Date section, for results with a time span.
A Document Properties section, for size, type, and language refining.
A Search button, to launch the query.
The Advanced Search page enables users to create complex queries by using the various text boxes or the search box, as well as predefined options for field queries, which prevents from having to type them into the search box.
Available from the Search page, the Preferences page enables users to modify several aspects of the Search Interface and search results page. The Preferences page includes the following sections:
General
Results Fields
Advanced
For further information about customization, see a full description of the Preferences page in The Preferences Panel.
